Dr. Ricky R. Kalra is a spine fellowship-trained neurosurgeon.
He is originally from Plano, Texas and graduated from Rice University. After completing his medical training at Washington University in St. Louis, he started his neurosurgery residency at the University of Utah with a special interest in brain tumors and complex scoliosis surgery. Dr. Kalra spent a year researching brain tumors and was nationally recognized for his contributions with the Preuss Award by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He also has extensive publications in spine surgery and won the Charlie Kunz Award by the Joint Spine Section for his research on lumbar fusions.
As part of his training, Dr. Kalra completed a spine surgery fellowship with training in Germany focusing on minimally invasive approaches to the spine and complex scoliosis.
Dr. Kalra has multiple leadership roles with multiple hospitals in North Dallas and resides with his family in Plano.
Dr. Kalra has been elected to D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas and Best Doctors in Collin County since he started his practice.
